A major part of our purpose at The Communications Network is building stronger ties and deeper connections among the folks working in comms for good.

It’s essential work. Community is crucial in this era of rapid change, innovation, and opportunity. None of us should have to go it alone.

Below are some of the ways you can connect with your colleagues and peers to build community at ComNet23:

Community Group Emails at ComNet23

To help you get connected with others attending ComNet23, in mid-August you’ll receive an email connecting you with a handful of other folks headed to Atlanta. It’s a great way to connect, network, share ideas, and build community.

The groups are randomly made to facilitate cross pollination across organizations, issues, and roles — and our goal is for them to help you expand and build your personal network, create a support system, and make some friends along the way — but you’ll have to “reply all” to make that happen!

ComNet23 Gatheround

Friday, September 15 at 2 pm EST

Join us online for a virtual meetup with ComNet23 attendees to help you meet a few folks before we gather IRL in Atlanta

The ComNet23 App

Most conference apps kinda…. Yeah. Not ours.

We’ve built a do everything app to help you connect with and message colleagues publicly and privately, navigate the conference, keep up with the program, and plan your personal agenda.

Download the ComNet23 conference app from the App Store or Google Play starting Sept. 15th

Day of Service

Wednesday, September 20 at 9:45 am and 1 pm EST

Day of Service has been a ComNet tradition since 2017 when our community joined together to support recovery efforts in Miami Beach in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Since then, ComNet attendees have given their time and generosity to give back to our local host communities - and we’re excited to continue this legacy in Atlanta this year!

In addition to doing good, you’ll also gain new connections and get to know more about the Atlanta community in advance of ComNet’s official kickoff. We've partnered with two great organizations, and we'd love to have you join us! See this year’s opportunities below and reserve your spot.

ComNet23 Welcome Reception

Wednesday, September 20 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm

Build and nurture your network at the ComNet23 Welcome Reception!

Join us at The Center for Civil and Human Rights on Wednesday, September 20 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm ET.

Connect with colleagues, make new friends, and enjoy drinks and light appetizers as you explore the Center’s indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Center for Civil and Human Rights is an extraordinary multimodal storytelling machine. Explore interactive galleries until 9:00 pm on self-guided tours. Through immersive and engaging storytelling, you’ll be asked to reflect and think critically, exercise empathy in action, and engage in brave and difficult conversations about necessary issues.

Networking @ Night

Thursday, September 21 from 5:45pm to 6:45pm

Join us on Thursday after the ComNet keynote wraps for a fun and casual Networking Happy Hour. You asked for more time to gather and connect, so this year it will be part of the official program!

It’s an opportunity to meet with, or learn more, about LOCALs and Circles (our vehicles for participating with The Network all year around). You can choose to gather based on your region with our LOCALs program or by topic with our Circles program — or do both! The ShowCase posters will also be on display in the main ballroom for you to walk through.

Across the Lobby Level (400 + 500 rooms) and Atrium Level (600 + 700 rooms) you will find rooms to gather by region or topic and grab snacks + drinks.

Bulletin Board

Wanna find your crew or just connect with peers? Have an idea you want to talk about during down time or a cool sight you want to show off (or check out) in the ATL? We’re excited to announce ComNet Atlanta’s Bulletin Board - a place for attendees to self-organize events and opportunities to network, learn or just have some fun.
